Grad Show Opening
Tonight is the opening reception for the Graduating Student Exhibition. The reception starts at 5pm so if you are around please feel welcome to join us and celebrate our students as they prepare to go out into the world.
The exhibition runs from May 12 – 22, 2010. For complete hours please visit the ACAD website.
Student Experience is Moving!
This summer the whole Administration of the college is moving upstairs into the studios to facilitate the HVAC renovation…something to do with air quality.
Our office will be located in Room 492 and we are looking forward to seeing what the space looks like…should be crowded but fun. I am thinking it will be like going to summer camp.
With this move it is extra important that students pick up portfolios when we have asked as it is not likely we will have any extra space for portfolios upstairs.
Admissions Update
Wow…has time flown by…we have been nuts in the office getting all fo the portfolios reviewed and letters out…but it is done. So you should have a letter from us by now advising you of our Admissions decision.
On Monday, May 17th from noon to 4:00pm and Tuesday, May 18th from 9:00am to noon we will have all the First Year Studies portfolios ready for pickup. So don’t forget to plan to stop by and pick up your portfolio.
Wednesday, May 19th from 4:00-7:00pm we will be holding our annual Art Teacher/Counsellor reception in conjunction with the Graduation Students Exhibition.
Wii are the Champions
In an unsurprising win Joy Borman, self proclaimed Wii Bowling Expert, beat Lance Carlson, President of ACAD, in an impromptu game of Wii Bowling.

The game took place on Wednesday afternoon in the Student Life office after self proclaimed Wii addict Joy heard about a game being set up in the office. She immediately made her way to the corner office where words were reportedly exchanged. Next thing we knew it was on and it was happening. For a number of years these two have uttered the words “we should bowl” on many occasions but nothing ever came of it. Carlson who reportedly owns his own shoes and ball was at a slight disadvantage as neither was in the building and he supposedly had never played Wii before. Borman who after two previous times playing the game decided that she was a much stronger virtual player than a real bowler.

The room was filled with spectators for the highly anticipated bowl-off and it quickly became apparent that Mr. Carlson had really never played Wii before. Borman quickly showed excellent form and was happy to discover that you could actually move the avatar from left to right.

For the rest of the afternoon witnesses heard the quiet humming of “Wii are the Champions” as Joy made her way around the building.

Final score was 157 to 101
Early Review Decisions in the Mail
Wow this has been truly one of the busiest years I can remember! We got the letters all out in the mail…so fingers crossed for everyone. Like many universities we are seeing a real increase in the number of interested students so it is making everything a little extra challenging.
I will be heading down to Missoula Montana this weekend to meet with some prospective students so I am looking forward to that. Also next week I will be going down even further to South America. I will be visiting schools in Quito, Barranquilla, Bogota and Caracas.
